Default T.E.A. 317's vs. T.E.A. 243's

I currently have a set of the stage 3 ported 317's on my ls2. What could be gained from switching to a 2.5 ls6 head? The 317's are milled .040 with the 2.08 intake valve so im limited on camshaft size without flycutting. Car put down 463 with the 317's 230/238 camshaft.

My understanding is the 317 head uses the same runner design as the 243
and 799 except the combustion chambers are 71 cc stock for lower comp.
on the truck engines. Yours milled .040 are right around 65 ish unless the
cnc port job also opened it up to unshroud the 2.08 valve. Perhaps time to
flycut and install a new spring-killa....ha ha

Bumping this back up.. Really would like some more opinions on this.. I believe a set of t.e.a. Stage 2 243/799 heads with ls3 valves cut down to 2.05 would work well on my ls2.. but as stated id like some more opinions if ill gain anything.

Yeah.. I may. Ive been told the combustion chamber is better shaped on the 243/799 head also

Seems I remember you wanting 500 rwhp.....since TEA is your favorite just
get some powdered metal guide TF225s with the LS3 hollows turned down and
be done with this GM casting nonsense. Your build is nearing the limits of
factory castings and another casting # or cnc program just won't net you
enough of a gain to validate the expendature.

Just dont have the coin to fork out over 2100-2600 for a nice set of heads.. prc's are 2100 but ( I ) havent seen any real power come out of a aftermarket casting prc head. And just dont have the coin for a tfs225/afr230 head like my turd needs. Fuess ill stick with what ive got. Thanks guys
