Default Rear main seal change.. =(

Hello guys and gals, I currently have my transmission out due to clutch failure. My rear main has a leak so im going to replace it before I put the new clutch in but I was wondering if it is necessary to change the cover gasket as well? My car has 102xxx on it do you think the covers gasket will be alright?

I would. why take the chance of it leaking. Your rear cover is also an oil passage,

I have never used or seen the alignment tool...I would just start all the bolts before tightening them... I ended up just getting the lower gasket kit... it came with the pan gasket, front and rear cover gasket, front and rear main seals, water pump gaskets and a few others...its more money at once, but a lot cheaper than buying each individual gasket as you go....just use what you need now and put the rest on the shelf for later (when you do a cam swap and oil pump upgrade)
