valve seat location question...
It is my assumption that the didtance from the valve seat to the deck surface is the same for the ls1, ls6, and 5.3 heads (to maintain valvetrain geometry), with all variances between these in chamber volume due to combustion chamber shape. Does anyone know this for sure? My point/question, is: will the p to v clearance be the same for each of these heads for a given cam? I'm thinking it will.. Just wanted some feedback from someone who may know for sure... Thanks!

The measurement is called valve depth, and it is identical between LS1 and LS6 heads, i measured it. Just remeber adding larger valves or valves with thicker margin will reduce this clearance.

Good deal. That's what I needed to know. I hope it's the same on the 5.3 as well. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Make your measurements from the valve tip to the spring pad. Both intake and exhaust should be within .010" of each other. Factory tip heights are 2.00"
Good luck,
