Default Milling head surface.

Can anyone tell me how much will I have to mill to get my LS6 #317 castings
to equate to a stock LS1. I'm not looking to up compression. I'll be installing a .558 lift cam with my heads once they are complete. I'm concerned will I have enough p/v clearance. This setup will go on my stock 2000 shortblock.
Thanks

If you mill you are upping your compression which is opposite of what you want if you want to equate to a stock LS1 which has lower compression than LS6

EDIT: IF you want you can remove material by maching the CC's but I think you would want to keep the LS6 CC b/c the added compression gives you more power and it is not too high that you have to use Race Gas.

Huhhhh, it is my understanding that the LS6 is 71cc's and a LS1 is around 66.67cc. A stock LS6 head would lower my compression if bolted on as is.
I am not running any forced air products. My intention is to use the improved castings (LS6) larger valves and bowl porting but because they have a larger combustion chamber I want to remove material thus reducing cc's to equate to the LS1 head but I don't know how much to remove.

Wrong. The 6.0 head has the bigger combustion chambers, the LS6 has a smaller chamber yielding higher compression. I believe it's 66cc for the LS1 and 63cc for the LS6. The only LS6 casting that I am aware of is 243. You have 6 liter heads there.

Correct. I have 6.0 heads not LS6. They have a larger cumbustion chamber than the LS1's I currently have. If I bolt them on as is I'd lower my overall compression. I don't want to lower my oac, I want to maintain it.
The question is still unanswered. How much material do I remove from the 6.0 head to achieve an equal cumbustion chamber as the LS1.

You will have to talk to a qualified shop about how much to mill, but here is a CC link that might help
