Newb cam install question I am in the middle of a 99 ls1 engine swap. The engine is out of the car and I was doing the cam swap this weekend. Swapping in a tru torq level 2 with springs, push rods, etc... Anyways I was following the writeup on ls1howto.com. I wasn't paying attention to the process and because i have rebuild many over head cam engine where the lifter wont fall I failed to either use a magnet or rod to hold them. I installed the new cam and then realized that i missed the step. Do you guys think I am good to go? As a check i installed the pushrods and they all sit at the proper heights. If a lifter was to have fallen down would it have fallen completely out so i would obviously know there was a issue, ie a pushrod would then drop down farther than it should. Any input would be great!!
You should be able to look through each pushrod hole and see the lifter cup. The lifters sit in there pretty tight, which is why some people use the "pull and prey" method. You would definately know if you set the pushrods and they didn't fall...i'd say your fine.
