383's don't really gain much over 346 set ups. The larger valves you need to support the airflow requirements are just shrouded by the small bore.

Its better to start off with a 4" bore like an LQ4 or LS2 block.

The stroker benefits all over, alot of guys look at peak this and peak that. The real gains with larger displacment are below peak numbers, go compare a solid 400+ci set up vs a 346 below 3000rpm and tell me what you see, im willing to bet damn near a 100tq difference in the lower rpms.

1300 horsepower is easily attainable from an LQ4 and a 4" stroke. Just add a couple T-76 turbos, 120lb injectors, race gas, and some ice water in the A2W intercooler reservoir. enjoy

Not really, you can fit a valve in a 3.905" bore big enough to fill a 383ci LS1 with a hydraulic roller. The main advantage with the extra cubic inches is the average power. Without changing the heads or cam, you will pickup torque and horsepower almost everywhere. Swap out the heads and cam in favor of something more appropriate for the extra displacement and you will really see an increase in power.

You guys want to see an impressive 383ci LS1, go look at Tony Mamo's from like 3 years ago. IIRC, it picked up over 40ft-lbs without changing anything but the rotating assembly. Once he added heads to compliment the extra cubic inches, the 383 gained somwhere in the neighborhood of 70HP.
