Default Comp XR288 cam

I can't find any info on here regarding the Comp Cam XR288 cam. Google brings up a lot of 3rd gen related articles.

Does anybody have experience in an LS1?

Specs are said to be 236/242 580/590 112LSA

That looks similar to the RapTR from Thunder. Its gonna like rpm and need good gears and/or converter to really do well. It will lack some torque down low.

I ran a 238/242 .595/.595 112lsa Trickflow cam for a while in my 346...like said above, it was pretty peaky and bitchy cold and in town, but pulled like a freight train up past 7,000 rpms. I loved it, but lots of people would consider it poor mannered....plus you would want to really bump your compression up

Compression is definitely coming up, I should be at 10.7:1 with a set of PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L heads and my gears are 4.10

This is also the same reason I'm swapping cams, my current cam will not clear these heads.

I am also running a 150-175 shot on top.

I just can't seem to find any LS1 topics on this cam.

With my cam and my 241 heads milled .040" it looked like at one point (maybe an over rev) the valves kissed the pistons....no bent valves, pushrods or holes in the pistons....just little marks on the piston faces when I tore the motor down for a rebuild....I got VERY lucky

I've read a lot about the clearance issues with these heads and this is why I'm doing my homework before the tear down. I decided on this cam because it is smaller than the MS3 which can barely clear the heads.

I will definitely be checking the clearance before I rev it.

The problem is that I bought this cam from a friend who decided against the install himself, however it did not come with the cam card when he bought it from another member on here. I've pulled 2 different specs so far;

236/242 580/590 112LSA is what I was told and found similar re-grind specs to match this and comp cams website shows this cam at 236/242 510/520 110LSA, but not made for the LS1
