Default rod journal end gap clearance

i have eagle h-beam rods and have a huge gap. .028 for the rod end gap clearance (side of rod to side of crank play) stock spec says no more then .020 anyone come across this as being normal?

come on guys, we got engine builders on this sight and i know they check those things. so, someone could shead some light? or we just putting rods in with that much clearance between the rods ends and crank??. i've seen people just about build a rock with the tech they throw around here. and now, i can't get this simple answer?

.028 isn't extremely bad. Only thing you'll need to watch is oil pressure. Having too big a gap will bleed off oil pressure.

Are you using a stock crank on that measurement? If so, you probably will have a little more gap since the stock crank is not radiused.
