Question Good Morning! Need help with heads.

Hi Guys, let me preface this and give anyone that has an aversion to dim people or a lot of seemingly redundant questions the chance to bail out now.

Okay, I bought a cam for my 99 C5 coupe yesterday and figured that hey, while I am doing a cam why not heads? The cam is a 228, at least that is what the guy told me, and I would like to get a set of heads that would help make this car a real screamer. I will be installing a new LS6 intake and headers at the same time.

Any guidance woudl be really appreciated. I have no clue what the heck I am doing. Also any guidance in picking out headers would rock.

Thanks in advance,

Sam Mazman

Usually it's best to select the heads then match the cam to the heads. In anycase I'd have the cam checked on a cam doctor to make sure you and the head porter know exactly what type of cam you have. There is lot's of good info>>>> from the sponsors that sell heads. Do a few searchs will yeild lot's of head info.

TEA, Absolute, MTI, & Patriot are very popular as others.

TEA has excellent cylinder heads and great customer service. I would strongly recommend talking with them.

Good Luck with your new combo

you probably shouldve asked for guidance before you picked up a cam that you dont know what the specs are on it JMO....like stated for heads check the sponsors there are many options and check the external section for info on some headers you can spend as little as mid $300's on up to over $1500 for some setups...have fun

You won't be disapointed with FLPs (headers) for a C5. I've installed a set and they fit perfect.

Thanks for all the replies. After a little research, Calling the place I got the cam from, I am getting the F10 Cam from Fultral Motorsports. It is a 228/228 with a 114Lsa.

Thanks again,

That cam will work great with TEA heads like said above. Give Brian a call, he is a very nice guy and will take care of you.

I just installed a set of Patriot 5.3 heads on mine which i'm very pleased with. Give Texas Speed a call and you'll save quite a bit of money over the other brands.
