New ls7 lifters damaged?
New ls7 lifters damaged? So I had too long of a pushrod in my car and it was hanging the valves. I ran the car like this for about 5 minutes. I pulled the rockers off to check for the correct pushrod length and I noticed that some of the lifters are STUCK, like I cannot push them down at all with the pushrod. Some go down just fine and are springy. I assume this is not normal? Or are they just pumped up? Anything I can do to get them unstuck or will they free themselves upon starting the motor?
Good observation, when hydraulic lifters are charged w/ oil they can not be compressed by hand. This is normal behavior.
Be sure to follow either the GM procedure or EO/IC (look up Shane from Thunder Racing's posts here) when you torque the rockers. Tightening them w/ the lifter on the lobe ramp makes for a noisy initial startup, as even a charged lifter will get squished.
