Rebuilt engine break-in
The motor in my Camaro is almost ready...what should I do?
What oil should I use, and should I put in any additives?
How should I drive it? What do I need to look for?

Well, hopefully it'll be ready this weekend...we keep running into little issues. Found out yesterday that the previous owner had put 8" long pushrods into the driver's side heads. Glad we double-checked the work, not glad that I've got to wait for new pushrods to show up in the mail.
Once it's up and running, though, I'd like to go visit my girlfriend, who lives about an hour away (at freeway speeds). I've heard to avoid going on the freeway during the break in period, so I'm wondering if there's anything I can/should do. I've read that the initial break in is something like 50 miles, and 100 miles, and 1000 miles. If I drive 50 miles (or 100) around town, then change my oil/oil filter, will I be okay to head up there?

Well, ran into another issue. Pushrods are here, but the fuel injectors are a good inch too short. Called the dealer, and they're the 5.3 injectors. Had to order new ones.
I guess I'll ask for break-in advice when the car is actually running lol. Oh, well. I just hope it does end up running soon.
