Question Block Prep for a new GM LS2 block

So my question is if you were to buy a new LS2 Block from GM is there any machine work that would need to be done to it? I could see honing based on what ring set is used but beyond that is it ready to run?

I am trying to decide on building a 383 with my exsisting block or go 402. My engine has 43xxx miles but has 5 cylinders with broken top rings. Still need to pull the pistons and see if a ring land is broke. From what I can see the cylinders still look good(no gouges or scratches) and has a nice cross hatch in the bores.

Thanks
Chris
