Question Opinions, info, and help welcome on a setup question...

Trying to decide on a cam and head package along with a few other mods, wanted to get some feedback from more knowledgable members

Current mods, as far as I know (recently purchased the car), suncoast creations ram air hood, SLP lid, port/polished throttlebody (about as big as humanly possible without seeing through the walls), !egr, !cat, MSD wires, hooker super comp lt's, 3000 stall, 3.08 gears (factory), and it is dropped 1 inch maybe.

I'm looking at a purchasing cam/head package, ram air box, intake mani, and sfc's etc (your basic suspension stuff).

This cam with the PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads-

FMS-F14-112-HIGHLIFT http://www.futralmotorsports.com/fms....asp?pf=1&pg=5

Or this cam on also 112 LSA-

With these heads-

in this package-

and also this ram air box-

as far as intake goes, I'm still undecided on LS6 or FAST.

I personally would go with the Texas Speed package, they have great customer assistance, and you can call them and tell them everything about your ride and what your goals are for it. They will spec out a cam that will work the best for your application.

I would get a cam that works with that gear and stall combo, which are on the low side for good performance.you can buy a tsp head/cam pkg for less then buying them separate.maybe look the prc 2.5 5.3 heads with the 228r/224r cam pkg.you will need a good tuner.

Thanks for input thus far. Gears will not be permanent (forgot to mention), goal is to upgrade to 3.42s (stock carrier, to save $) or 3.5 (in a 9"). Any dyno's etc are greatly appreciated also (to back-up claims) .

This is such a broad subject, I know, but I just don't want to waste money on mods that others already have experience in.

My understanding is that the torquer v2 vs v3 is favorable to the v3 with a +10-15 hp gain, but at a sacrafice of higher RPM's.

Considering the V2 as well...

If you're swapping gears, go with 3.73's while you're doing it. These cars didnt have 3.08 gears. You might have 2.74's or 3.23's

ahh, ok thanks for the gear info..I'm still learning about firebird's. I just used the summit gear ratio calculator to guesstimate. So, with the V3 being a higher RPM cam, and advised 3.73 gears, the V2 seems to be more of the obvious option, right? I apologize for the newbie questions, but I've never gone much further than bolt-on with cars and since the majority have been done to this one I'm needing/learning new stuff everyday.

you seem to have similar mods (gears/cam/intake being the exception), what numbers are you getting with your setup?
