Default ERL 427 or 454???

This is just a simple question for all you knowledgeable folks out there. If you were going to build an ERL block off the LS1 would you start out with their sleeved 427 or 454? Ive noticed a lot of people doing the 427 and I dont understand why not do the 454? Also, I currently have Trickflow 215 heads on my setup, can these be used on a 454 after being ported?

1st you would need a ls2 or ls3 block to send in, can't really do a dry sleeve in a ls1. 427 would be alot more boost or n2o friendly. If you go 427 you have alot of room for clean up on the bores down the road were as the 454 you won't have must left.
The 215s are going to be wayyyy too small to feed a 454. Even a TFS 235 would be small. You would need something in the 240's for runner size. Now you could run it with a small runner if all the parts were matched for the combo but I think the 215s would choke it off too much. I think a good set of stage 2 or so l92-ls3 heads would work good with the big intake valve.

As FlamingTA stated, 427 leaves room for future overbores. Maybe you could contact TEA to see if they could open up the TFS 215s enough to feed the 427. If not, just run the heads as is with PatG spec'd cam until $ allows bigger cathedral heads.
