Ok, there's one thing that's been bothering me for a while now. I want to make my car's exhaust have the deepest note possible. Here are several things I've been able to come up with in my search:
-Long tubes sound deeper than manifolds or shorties
-Mid-mufflers seem to sound better than mufflers that are only a few inches from the tips...I assume this is because the longer a pipe is after the exhaust, the less chance of rasp. (I know this because of the Mustang's BS design and my crappy sounding exhaust after I removed the cats)
-H-pipes sound deeper than x-pipes...but I don't know why.
I'm looking for info on what types of mufflers or resonators to look for. Also how does the placement of said mufflers/resonators effect the sound? (i.e. Would the sound be deeper if the h-pipe is before or after the muffler/resonator?)
Here are some examples:

This (my favorite so far):

sounds much better than this:

but they are the same mufflers, just mounted in different sections of the exhaust system.

The first part of the video is with stock resonators and mufflers

the second part is with the mufflers deleted and just the resonators..and it sounds much better!
Obviously different engines are going to produce different exhaust notes, but I'm looking for basic info as to what effects the exhaust tone/note.
