when to replace...???
Just finishing a cam/intake/head deal and was wondering if I should do the oil pump and chain ?? Its a stock bottom LS6 with 32K miles on her. There were no problems at all when I tore the top end off. 40 PSI at idle and up from there with rpm. And about the chain, does not have much slack at all and I'm not scared about breaking it. I mean really, whens the last time someone broke a chain, that was in decent shape with low miles.
Just FYI, it should be in the 500 at the tire range and a little more with the spray tune.
And if a was to replace the oil pump what are some suggestions (volume vs pressure) ?? And the chain, if I replace I would look for a single roller hex adjust deal.
Thanks...........

When I did the cam/heads/inake on my low mileage LS6 I installed an IWIS chain from Thunder Racing, and a Melling 10296 high volume/high pressure pump with the standard pressure spring option that comes with it. An alternative to the IWIS chain would be an LS2 chain. Replacing the timing change is based on the notion that the cam will require stiffer than stock valves springs, which coupled with the increased horsepower will put more strain on it.
