Default 5.3/6.0 block dimensions the same?

Hy guys, I'm putting together a turbo motor with a front plate on it. I'm mocking everything up with a 5.3 engine. Before I do any welding for the front plate mounts, I was wondering if the 5.3 and the 6.0 block dimensions ( length) are the same? The main reason I'm wondering is the bigger bore on the 6.0. Where does the 6.0 come up with all the extra "meat" to bore to 4.0"?

Thanks for any help or advice.

The extra iron comes from the internal dimensions of the water jacketing.
If the 5.3 and 6.0 were different external dimensions, then they wouldn't be the same engine family.
