How much to shave off heads?
I'm building a nice L33 5.3 for my project but I'm thinking I ought to have the heads cleaned up/shaved a bit before refitting them.
I'm using a cam from a 02-04 vette along with the matching pushrods and springs, intake and the 97-00 sheet metal exhaust manifolds.
That year the 'vette made 405 hp but with a 10.5 cr
5.3/5.7=0.9298*405=376 hp.
My L33 runs a stock cr of 9.9 so if I want to make the figure above (376) I need to match the CR. I may need to buy shortened pushrods though, so how much can I take off and what figures should I aim for? I don't mind going above 10.5 as the engine will end up running on LPG which is 105 octane
Head gaskets will be stock Gm parts.
Thanks.....
