head question

I have a 1998 Camaro Z28 with stock heads. A buddy of mine is pulling his 5.3 motor out of his 2001 silverado 5.3 p/u. What heads are on that and is it an upgrade to my camaro? The motor is coming out in a couple weeks of my car, his motor is coming out of his truck. The heads are free so I am just curious if they are an upgrade or not. Thanks for any help.

They'll bump your compression to about 10.7:1, but they have smaller intake valves.

what kinda hp gain is typical with stock 5.3's on a 5.7?

No gain from stock 5.3 heads.They need to be ported and larger valves installed.They have smaller valves than the 5.7
