Explain how it happens...saying after a run isn't very specific. Any drop during the run? How long afterwards does it stay this way? What is it normally? Are you talking about idle pressure or cruising pressure. Help us help you.

Also what is your oil pressure at idle and cruising rpms? When the motor is cold does it have real good pressure and then drop once the motor warms up?

Mine always drops after the engine gets warm, and seems to fluctuate between 5-20 psi, I'm curious to see what you dig up on your's...

When I hear this problem I recommend customers take a look at their oil pump o-ring. Oil pump o-rings are very sensitive towards the slightest nick or pinch. If the o ring is installed incorrectly or damaged it will not seal correctly once the motor warms up and the oil thins out. Whenever its cold the oil is thick enough that it won't slip by the damaged o-ring.

woa oil pressure is no joke. when i got my t/a it the gauge would jump rapidly from 20 to 40 at warm idle. cold it was solid 40. so a week later i changed the pump.o-ring.pressure sending unit. all good since.

We prefer to use ported and shimmed LS6 oil pumps, this way we have no issues with double roller timing chains. If you don't have a double roller then you can run one of the melling pumps also.

Have you tried running the car with a mechanical gauge to make sure the stock gauge is right? Those things are known for being off. The only thing I can really think of is that you might be uncovering the pick up tube when you go WOT. I would check and make sure there is enough oil in the car, and if possible make sure the pick up tube is set correctly in the pan.

Oil does NOT slip by the oring........... the tear allows air to enter and mix with the oil entering the oil pump causing the oil aerate. This causes the lifters to clatter and if its SEVERE enough low oil pressure. The lifters clatter because the air in the oil allows the lifters to partailly collaspe. It also can damage the bearings. Low oil pressure can be from many things but if the lifters are quiet I seriously doubt its the oring.

If your engine is running rich, and/or you're absorbing unburned fuel into the oil, the oil will thin out dramatically. Under this circumstance, the oil pressure in mine was 38 @ initial start-up, then fell off rapidly with engine heat to 28, then finally to 18-20 at hot idle. A quick oil/filter change sent the pressure to normal 40+ start-up, & 36-38 at hot idle.
Be sure to get a tune afterward.

Sounds like your WOT run is pushing all the oil up top, leaving the pan dry for a few seconds. Would likely manifest itself immediately after the "blast" when you get off the throttle and what little oil is left runs forward away from the pickup tube. Have you tried adding an extra quart?

I thought I'd mention this before anything is taken apart.
$20 + a filter is an inexpensive way to narrow down the trouble.
I went with a mailorder tune. The engine is still a bit rich, but no more dissolved oil.
