Default Pushrod Length Question

When I got my cam cut I was told to use COMP 7.425 pushrods with my cam. And that's because I told the person who specd my cam that the block was stock and so were my 799 heads. But when I had my shortblock built my block was decked .003 and so were my heads just to clean up the surface. So my question is would the 7.425 pushrods still be the right size cuz the only sizes I see are 7.400 or 7.450 that are close to what length was recommend and I would think those would be way off.

If 7.400 or 7.450 are the only off the shelf choices, then the 7.425 would still be closer with the 0.006" decrease in rocker to lifter distance if the 7.425 pushrods were ideal in the first place. Changing the lifter pre-load by 0.006" shouldn't make a real difference.

But if the 7.425 pushrods put the lifter near the top or bottom of the travel before the head/block shaving, then a 0.006" change could be significant. Only way to make it perfect with you shaved heads and block would be to determine the perfect length with a pushrod length gauge tool, then custom order pushrods to the length you determine ... takes some time and effort to go that route.
