Getting an LS1 with 90k on it . . . what do to while it's out?
couple other things and again these are optional. 1 is an ls2 timing chain its about 35 bucks at the dealer and double the thickness of the ls1 chain and a direct bolt on plus if you have the oil pump off its right there in front of you.
2. the rod bolt on ls1's particularly ones in 98-00 models (could be 98-99) werent very good and start to fail in the upper 6k rpm range once again optional and most likely you would have any issues but new rod bolts can be had from katech for 200 and then its worry free. ARP makes bolts also at half the price but you must resize the rods if you use the arps while katechs are just bolt on and go.
If anyone knows about the bolt sizing for an engine stand into the heads/accessory points, that would be awesome. The engine is still wrapped up with everyone on it. I don't have any tools here yet, so if I could grab bolts while I am out buying some tools that would rock!
