i need some help........can anyone tell where to find the engine codes stamped on the blocks of ls motors? i did find the block casting it is #12559846 and the stampings on the heads . which it told me its a 1998 model...... but i know there is more...... just don't know where to look......please help

 

Should be on the left rear.

 

that would be the block casting number.... had a buddy look it up . the block casting plus the head casting number tells all u want to know about the motor. it turned out to be a ls1 1998 corvette with 345hp.........just what i need for my truck.........
