If you mean thread chaser, you can make you own using one of your discard TTY bolts. You just grind two flats on the threads.

i ended up making one. I thought I saved my old head bolts but must been thrown away when I moved. I found a short one and welded an exstension onto it.

While the grinding the old bolt heads does work, I would say the ARP chaser works better. It's a nice piece, just pricey.

Actually you should buy the proper thread resizer mentioned above. Now all your holes are sized to the bolt you used. A used stretched bolt no less.

My used stretched bolt had no problem threading into the hole with finger pressure only. Based on that, I'm pretty confident that I didn't damage my block threads with the used stretched bolt. It's perfectly adequate for the job of cleaning snot out of threads.

Really reasonably priced chasers @ Summit.....
Powerhouse has them, too.

Used a old bolt and cut a 3/16 deep v the length of the threads in mine and seems to catch all the debris in it well.

They don't sell the size you need for LS head bolts. The only option for that is the expensive ARP piece.

Been using an old head bolt with 2 grooves cut into it for many years now. It works perfect.

One trick I use that works REALLY well....Buy a can of Brake parts cleaner (non-chlorinated), and spray some down each hole. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, then blow them all out. Then clean your threads. The brake parts cleaner will break up all the old gunk on the threads, and make it much easier for the chaser bolt to get it out.

It's a little messy, but essential on older engines IMO where old factory loctite is caked up in the holes.
