Adjusteble Timing Set
I am building a H/C/I LS6.
The motor has some miles on it so i want to replace the timing chain. While i am doing that i would like to change to a adjusteble one.
I am looking at the 450+RWHP range.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what timing set to buy?
Is the LS Chain a direct swap?
I would prefere not to swap out the timing cover.
Do i have to do that i i buy a double roller chain?
Thanks
Tommy
N Motion/JP Performance make nice billet single roller timing sets that are adjustable to about +/- 8 degrees. They're usually less than $100 and you don't have to clearance the timing cover/oil pump to make it fit either.
Do you need a adjustable chain. The 10 cams I have installed only 1 needed an adjustment.
For the basic install the ls2 fits the bill.
Not worth dealing with spacing the pump and other clearance issues.
Some A/M chains don't last very long.
