Default Cam Narrowed down

its been well decided that my blown up 5.7 will be replaced with a 5.3 from a 2004 avalanche(picked the motor up yesterday) i've been back and forward 100x's debating on what to do as far as the cam is concerned, and i've finally narrowed it down. i'm looking for something QUIET and sneaky w/ a good response to nitrous but runs strong on motor as well. Car is/will be FREQUENTLY raced and driven almost daily.

mods so far:
LS6 intake
ported LS6 throttle body
lid
LT headers
2.5" Y-pipe
Flowmaster 1 chamber
3000 stall
4.10 gears
175hp nitrous
heads will be ported/polished

now for the cam selection, i've narrowed it down to the following 6:
Thunder Racing CheaTr v3 219/230 .607/.604 117
EPS Truck Torque 2 218/226 .595/.598 113
EPS LS 214/232 .605/.598 117
Comp 269Lr 219/227 .607/.614 112
Comp 273Lr 223/231 .610/.617 112
Comp XER273 224/230 .581/.588 114

I'm looking to make this 5.3 a sleeping street beast. Let's here some opinions/facts. i know someone is going to say go with a much bigger cam.......if it lopes like crazy......i'm not interested

I like that last 2. Getting the 114 will idle smoother than 112. If I could make one up, I would probably go 220/228 on 114 or 222/230 on 114.

219(.607")/226(.605") 115lsa. LSL intake lobes and LXL exhaust lobes for a quieter valvetrain. The cam will have -7.5* overlap with the 115lsa, so it should be somewhat stealthy.

BTW, a FM single chamber muffler doesn't quite fit into the category of "QUIET and sneaky".

Cat-back, or off the y-pipe muffler?

Also, are you wanting a quiet valvetrain or does it matter?

Check Out the Walker DynoMax Super Turbos. They are the quietest fast muffler that I know of and have been for years.

i'm cutting it off the y-pipe and i plan on keeping the whole car as quiet as possible, valvetrain and all

Run the 223,.610",LSL, int., but run a 230,.609",LXL, exh. instead of the 231,.617", LSL, and you'll have a quieter valvetrain because of the softer closing rate of the LXL lobes.

i was looking for the lobes today in the master lobe catalog but it didn't see the LSL/LXL lobes at all

All those cams are too big, too lazy down low, or too rowdy (lots of overlap and noise) for a 5.3.

Remember, a 5.3 is going to want a cam that's about 4 degrees smaller in overlap than a 5.7L to behave the same. To be quiet, you're going to want to limit your overlap to -10 or a max of - 8 degrees of overlap at .050". But since your 5.3L only has 9.6:1 static compression, your torque down low is going to be pretty poor with any intake valve closing point later than 39 or 40 degrees ABDC @ .050".

I'd do something more like a 218/222 .595/.602" 114LSA +4 or 115LSA +4 cam with EPS lobes on intake and quiet LXL lobes on the exhaust.
