Default oil pressure issue

i have a ls1 with a ms4 cam and milled 243 heads. it has a slp oil pump and im haveing a little problem. when i cold start the car it has good oil pressure (idles 60psi) but when it gets warm and ive been driving it around for a while it idles at 20psi and drives around at 25-30 psi and when i go WOT it only gets up to 40psi all the way up to 7k rpms. any ideas? is my oil pump messed up?

Its not really low. Maybe just a bit at wot. Try a thicker oil and see what happens. How many miles on the engine.

Is there a chance one of the cam lobes got scratched in the install? That can kill oil pressure in a hurry. You could also try a simple volt meter test on the pump to see if it is a power issue if you think its the pump. (just try the simple things before stuff starts flying out of the engine bay and onto the workbench...)

there are around 1500 miles on the engine. forged pistions and rods. there is mobil 1 10w-30 in it now, you think i should go thicker?

no there isnt but i did have a collapsed lifter and i replaced the lifter and the cam. when i took the old cam out there wasnt any scratches on it accept for one lobe so i only replaced on lifter.

If you put a heavy oil in, you will see an overall increase in oil pressure 5-10 psi above what you have right now. Now with this fix the issues you are having?: Im not sure. You can try it and see because thats only $20 to narrow down your problem...

well hopefully that fixes the problem. ive heard that with the slp oil pumps they are higher velocity than stock so they tend to drop a little oil pressure because the hole is bigger. is this true?
