loose chain??

loose chain??

i've seen some, almost all LS-series engines have loose gear chain, is this just a wrong or worn chain?? or this is normal on these engines for something, i dont know maybe something regarding perfomance...

Well most of the chains you saw were probably worn out. Also I have never seen a loose timing chain for performance.

on all the LS motors i have taken apart the chain has been "loose". it doesn't make any sense to me but they seem to be that way. you can go with an aftermarket timing set that will help reduce the "looseness" of the chain... i've heard Rollmaster is a nice "tight" set

yeah, in fact i already did it by "cloyes" aftermaket and it is tight enough to work nice, just that issue came to my mind if it comes from OE factory with the slack timing chain, but it doesn't make sense for perfomance... anyway thanks guys.
