Default lm7 vs ly5 5.3engine

Im buying a 5.3 shortblock for my turbo build and im wondering whats the diffrence between the lm7 ly5

Thanks for the link. Yea im definately not looking to have to swap out the reluctor wheel just looking for a drop in swap so i will probably just go with the lm7

Bottom end wise the LY5 should have floating wrist pins vs pressed and like stated is a 58x/4x set up.

Part of the updates when they switched to gen4 i believe, the HO aluminum 5.3 (L33) available in 05-07 classic ECSB trucks also had them, this was the only gen3 5.3 that had them, now the 07 up new body style trucks whether it be LY5, LH6, LC9 which are all gen4 should be floating, correct me if I'm wrong but i think they also all use coated skirts on the pistons too. It was part of GM's way to reduce the common complaints about piston slap noise.
