Default At what point do lifters need to be upgraded

I am going with the new Patriot springs, and probably a 228º/.581" cam (maybe the 231). Should I get the Comp R lifters as well, reuse the stock ones, or go with something else?

they dont. At the worst, buy some stock new ones, or get some crane/compcams stock replacement ones

The only reason to buy aftermarket is if the stock are lost/bad/don't have 'em. In any case, aftermarket is way cheaper. Use the stock ones if you got 'em.

i replaced mine when i did my first heads/cam swap at about 30K. I just got federal mogul factory type replacements as I recall, not comp r's or anything. only did it just to be on the safe side and because i'd been running a hotcam in the car since like 16K miles and beating the **** out of it constantly.

Can I ask where you got this deal. I need a set. I know you can get them from Advance for about $10 a piece but your price is even cheaper than that.
Thanks,
Chris

try this thread...
basically...it tells you when the stock lifters will give way...

although I have seen a few mild cams colapse a lifter at the track(like a 224/224 .581/.581)

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...lifter+colapse

its basically based on the seated pressure...
figure yours out...then decide for yourself if it is too much pressure for your piece of mind....

I'm doing mine when I do my heads...since I will have easy acess to them at that time.

Don't the heads have to be pulled to change the lifters though? I was planning on doing a T-rex cam swap here soon and I HEARD that the heads have to be pulled..... I have never worked with the cams on an ls1 just the old SBC's
