I drilled and tapped mine. It wasn't that hard, I just took my time so I didn't break the tap. It was worth the piece of mind for me.

Thanks for all the advice. Now can some one help me with the gaskets. What ones are re usable and what new ones do I need. I got the head gaskets. The only other ones I can think of are rear main and front seal.

head gaskets ya gotta have.

I'm doing an LQ4 swap in my car, and I'm replacing any gaskets I take off.. so that's head gasket, valley plate, timing chain oil pan and valve cover. I'm not messing with the RMS or the rear plate so I don't think it's really NECESSARY to swap out. If you're feeling froggy tho I would recommend a new RMS just cos you don't want it leaking later. Certainly a new front seal as well.

a new timing chain won't hurt while things are apart, sounds like you got it under control to me tho.

oh.. uh.. water pump gaskets, header gaskets.. put on a new water pump too.. kind of a given I guess, but good to add it to the list just to be sure. Even if the old pump is working I'd swap it out.

not a bad idea to put in new radiator hoses when you hook it back up. Also, I'm gonna convert mine to the ls6 pcv system while it's out, should clean things up a bit. If you haven't done that already it may be worth the extra $150 or so to do. ls1howto has a writeup on it.

new oil pump is a given, but again you sound like you're on top of it there so I don't guess I need to mention that. A new crank pulley is a good idea if you're still on a stock one. They can come apart on ya..

lets see.. new accessory belt while you're in there.. new plugs n wires (duh..) again all givens but.. just typing out my own checklist.

Thanks man I appreciate it that's everything I was looking for. I'm really only looking for the required things because I'm on a budget now. So Il be putting my water pump back on. Il probably re use the radiator hose. I'm going to put aside some more cash for a ls2 timing chain ls7 lifters, ls2 lifter trays, and what oil pump would you all recomend I was looking at a melling high volume or high pressure... Which one?

I just got a ported ls6 pump from tsp, and an ls2 chain, ran about $50 for the chain iirc.

I'm leaving my bottom end stock tho cos I don't plan to give it any boost. (we'll see if I'm true to my word on that promise. )

if you're going with melling I hear people talk about high volume more than pressure in their builds, but I can't offer any more insight than that. seems I read somewhere that they can suck the pan dry or something to that effect..

.. can't find it now. Figures.. it was on here tho that I read it.

Lol great... The ported ls6 oil pump is almost as much as the high volume. I remember a thread on that... I read that some people put an extra half court or something like that...
