853 heads any good?

I just got my hands on an ls1 that needs 1 rod and piston, and a crank(free). It has 853 heads, are theese heads any good in stock form? and are they a good foundation to do porting? i had a look down the runners, and it looks like they have the "wing" or "ramp" which I dont like.

I have 853's. I made the numbers in my sig wit them. I am sending them to AI to get them CNC ported.

Nothing wrong w/ 853's, 241's (later Fbody and GTO heads) supposedly have a slightly better design. Maybe a few hp difference(if that) Im only going ported 241's so the car has no down time and I figured I could sell the 853's after the swap.

853 is a 241 is an 853. it's a stock ls1 head, it can only be as good as the other stock ones...

806s and 853s were made with a different manufacturing process...the 241s are semi permanent mold which means they are alot cleaner casting, meaning they flow better...there is a reason 806/853 cant fetch a $100 in the parts classified section...actually you cant give them away
