Default 383 vs 347 longevity

I was just curious how much longer a 347 would last than a 383 mile wise. I know the longer stroke puts more stress on the rings, but I dont know how significant it is. I have a 383 that I drive everyday and would like to get 60-80 thousand miles out of before I have to freshen up the rings and bearings. I have heard of people freshening up their 4 inch stroke motors after 30K miles, that seems soon to me.

Also, does running a smaller piston increase the stress on the rings?

What kind of milage do you guys have on your 383/402/408 cars out there?

I guess if I were to push it, I would just have piston slap and burn more oil.

do you mean smaller diameter piston?

If the engine was built with the proper oil clearances and stroker clearancing than there is no reason you shouldnt get 100k+ even if you beat on it sometimes...people that freshen their motors up after 30k miles are either racing them hard, building them wrong, or just have way too much $ and time

should get more than 30k miles, as said the ones doing this are either racing them all the time or something has gone wrong like a spun bearing or something, i spoke to the machine shop doing my 383 stroker as i was told not to use clevite bearings as they apparently spin the bearings easy. The machine shop said this will mainly only happen if the clearances haven't been done properly, as i asked them to use acl bearings, they told me no real difference, the use clevite but will supply acl if i want, both are same cost.

Yes, I heard that a smaller diameter piston with a 4 inch stroke will have more stress on the rings than a larger one because of the geometry of the motor. I have no idea what the reason is though.

Anyone running a high mile stroker?

That makes sense that with less bore the geometry would put more stress than normal on the rings...on the other hand it's impossible to get a 383 without boring the cylinders

Id consider getting a 370 from a 6.0l block should make more power then the 383 and have less stress like the 347
