Default What turbo cam for me...

I'm doing a 390 swap into my 00 SS. I'm going to put one of those new gt88 turbos and go for 1000rwhp on e85. I was speced a 234/234 .595 .595 on a 112 lsa. I'm not doubting the guy who speced it what so ever but its allot of money to spend and I would like to make sure I have the best cam possible and would like multiple opinions. I'm going to put my 241 heads on for now and run it N/A untill I can afford to build my turbo kit.

How do I contact him? I'm on mobile so I can't see much. Don't have a computer either.

Looks pretty close, some would widen the LSA out a bit.

Why do you want a wider lsa for forced induction? I'm still learning about cams so bare with me here.

Reduce overlap.

Over lap is when the intake valve and exhaust valve are open at the same time right?

You are correct. If you have too much overlap on a turbo car you will effectively be running an egr system under boost. The exhaust back pressure is great enough to force exhaust back in at the beginning of your intake stroke. This will take up cylinder volume that would best be used for fresh fuel and air. It would be great to prevent preignition, but bad for power.

Big overlap is good on a NA motor to a point. With a tuned header and exhaust it will actually help pull more fresh intake charge into the cylinder due to exhaust scavenging.

Alot of people like these wide LSAs for turbos, but most of the cams used in LS motors are fairly wide by traditional standards anyway. This in my opinion is to make a decent vacuum signal and make it easier to tune the car.

Many Turbo Buick cams are as narrow as 109 and 110 and they work great. One of the smartest turbo guys I know once told me that picking the perfect cam for a turbo car will gain you a tenth in the quarter mile over one that works, and picking one that doesn't work will lose you three tenths. What I'm getting at is I believe the one you have specd for yourself is one that will work.

I didn't spec this cam. My builder did which I have no doubt that he knows his stuff very well. So what lsa are you guys thinking?
