I just installed this timing set tonight. Trying to get a verdict to keep it or find something better. The guy from yank said they ahave 300 sold without an issue. Seems like they are all loose and this is just slightly looser then most.

I havn't seen an answer if this chain should be ran or not.

man me either but after reading a few forums im decided not to run it and have it for sale. i bought a rollmaster double roller because i had the 10295 oil pump already. hope everything clears. 4 degrees of slack is to much for me

Trying to get more opinons on this timing chain. I am thinking about ordering a local stock timing chain and compairing how tight it is. What ever one is tighter then I would use it. For referance here is how much mine moves.

I am hoping someone who has built a good deal of these motors can chime in on weather this is fairly common or what we all suspect to be a shitty timing set. Thanks.

In the video, the other side was tight? Mine has about that much slack, I choose to run it. It looks like your a tooth off on the crank sprocket though. I have not run the engine yet.

I am on with my timing marks. I turned the motor to tighten the other side.

Anyone else ran one of these timing sets? I see some guys here or there saying they bought them but not seeing many if any guys who have ran them. Thanks.

Remember that the tight side shown will always be tight when the engine is running. The load caused by the valvetrain is constant.

it would be nice to get a few more videos of slack in peoples timing chain. it was a little extra work but in my opinion the rollmaster was worth it. i too ordered a new ls2 chain from the autoparts store and it had the same amount of slack in it. with as easy as it is to have a few thousand dollars in out motors a timing chain breaking and selfdestructing the motor is a scary thought.

I run the same setup since yank originally came out with the adjustable stock gear w/ ls2 chain. I thought mine had a ton of slack compared to small block chevy's I've built. I degree'd my cam in while taking up the play in the chain. I've put over 20k miles on it this way, 7000 rpm n/a and about 5000 boosted miles up to 720 rwhp. No problems yet but on a future engine I will be running something with less slack.

Thank you for the info. It is good to hear more posative stories. I plan to change up the heads later on either this year or for next year. My budget is already getting tight so I will be running this chain. But I also will try to find something tighter for next time the motor goes togather.

I would not buy another LS2 chain again. It is too much slack. Next time I will be going with a Cloyes Hex A Just or similar product that is engineered to solve this problem.

What speedtigger said, that's what I did. Hex-a-just FTW.

Cloyes all the way, I have yet to see a Cloyes set that was anywhere close to loose. Here's a link to the LS stuff: http://www.cloyes.com/HighPerformanc...S/Default.aspx
I've had the 'Z' chain in my hands and it's a nice piece.

I have the Yank adjustable gear with the original LQ4 crank gear, and an LS2 chain and mine is the same way. If your cam bolts are just hand tightened, the chain will tighten up when the cam bolts are torqued down. Mine had the same amount of slack with the non-adjustable yank gear and had no issues at all in over 2500 miles and 10 passes at the track
