Default Changing Pistons

If I change to pistons with different weights, do I need to have the rods and crank rebalanced or just the crank? I am thinking about switch from 3.91" bore pistons to 4.00" pistons. TIA.

You will need to balance if this was done before shop may have rod weight's they can do the crank only if you have never balanced before do the complete job.

Ok... Currently I have a 383 Stroker with 3.91" pistons, 6.125" rods, and a 4.0" stroke crank. Everything is balanced at this point in time. I am thinking about transferring over the internals to a LQ4 block. Can I just swap the pistons out or do I need to rebalance things? TIA.

The pistons, pins and rings would need to be worked into being the same weight, then the crank would need a slight adjustment, nothing major. Not like they are going to have to add a ton of mallory to it, but it still costs a few $$
