Bad news
You might get lucky and get in and find minimal damage. Maybe just some fried seals with warped intervals. In the other hand, the whole guts of the motor might be smoked.
A used ls1 can be had for fairly cheap. On the other hand, a used motor could usually use sone freshening up of it's own. Give us a little more detail, and we might be able to help you more.
FYI - My LT1's oil pump drive assembly went out last month - had to drive it 2 miles (at zero oil pressure) to get it home.
(Yes, I know - Less than smart.)
I replaced the drive unit, checked the cam (it was fine), cleaned the oil pan, buttoned everything back up, and 2 days later - thru an 'effing rod!
So, if your motor is still running, I'd line up a replacement short block BEFORE the original one goes boom.
or he said he can get me a 56k ls1forr 2800. seems steep to me..
