Push rod length, assembling a new build. I am assembling my LS1 with new LS7 lifters, 243 heads and a Trick Flow 228/230 cam and I am trying to determine the push rod length. What solid lifters will I use as ls7 replacements and what would be the proper length checker? When I bought the cam and heads it came with comp cams 7.400" push rods, will these work fine?

get a comp length checker. you dont really need solid lifters. you tighten the rocker bolt and open the rod checker until there is zero play. count the number of twists until it closes back down and multiply that by the specificed amount (i dont remember the exact number) , add the amount of preload you want to run and that is the length of your pushrod. there are many many posts on here saying that 7.4s are too long with ls7 lifters.
just make sure that you are checking the length with the lobes on base circle and just tighten the bolts until they are snug. dont wrench them down. the rocker bolts arent supposed to tighten the pushrod to rocker contact. the adjustable length checker is supposed to be opened up enough so that you are at 0 lash as soon as the rocker bolts tightens. you dont even need to torque the bolt just snug. the comp cams trunions are easy. freeze them first, then use a vice. took me 30 mins for all 16.
