Default Lifter Tray Help

Need a little help.

I have a gen III LS that I rebuilt and bought 4 new lifter trays GM PN12571596 the issue I am having is the new tray grabs the lifter tight on one side and the other is loose. In comparison to the old units I can load all four lifters into the tray and it holds them tight enough that I can pick it up without them falling out. On the new ones 2 would stay and 2 would drop .... this is the same for all 4 trays.

Did I get a bad batch ? the design of the new tray is slightly different then that of the old and I know there is a difference between Gen III and IV but I thought Gen IV parts work fine in the Gen III.

Thanks in advance
Vince

I think you may have gotten a bad run a lifter trays. I swapped mine on my old setup and they were all nice and tight.

I think that may be the wrong part number. Texas Speed and Thunder Racing sell LS2 trays with number 12595365. On Google 12571596 comes up an L92 guide.

Yes Darkman you are correct, I forgot to mention I was running L92 heads. In any case I think the lifters should always be tight in the tray.

Does anyone know if the L92 heads have different size lifter bodies or larger openings in the trays ?

Summit Racing shows both L92 lifters (17122490) and LS7 lifters (12499225) with the same 0.842 inch diameter.

Any chance the trays are not quite symmetrical and you have them in "upside down"?

Ok so I took another look and I have 2 12571596 and 2 12571608 both look the same but basically mirrors of the other. Below is a pic of old vs new and you will notice two of the holes on one side of the new tray are larger then the other 2. The old tray all four are the same. My lifters fit in the smaller holes but not the other.

Guess I dont have pic posting rights on my account
