smell oil burning

smell oil burning i notice when i back out of the throttle to a stop i can smell oil burning. i dont really use up that much oil, 1000 miles on the oil change and she is still full.
example: i get on it in second gear until like 3000-4000 and just get off the gas and let it slow, no brake or gas. when i come to a stop i can smell it. any thoughts? i tried a catch can, kinda worked but didnt really. i cant really smell it if i floor it, not from what i can tell and then throw the clutch in, any ideas?
