Rod question help!

Default Rod question help!

im looking to buy some rods i have a stock crank and mahle forged pistons. i know stock rod length is 6.125 but the only I beams i can find is 6.100. and ive heard H beams may have clearance issues but they are 6.125. i would rather have I beams but cant find the right length. help!

Stock rod length is actually 6.098", not 6.125". Neither H or I beam rods will have clearance issues with the stock crank.

What are your power goals? Stock rods can handle a lot more than most people want to make.

well im prolly gonna have about 600 hp with 150 shot but this rod thing is a major headache. i was gonna use my stock rods but the guy at the machine shop said i couldnt because my pistons are floaters and my stock rods are press fit. idk what to do!!!! bout to jus say the hell with it and use my stock pistons!............will the 6.100" I beams work with my set up?

your going to need aftermarket rods then, the stock rods would probably hold up, but having the .927 wrist pin as opposed to the stock .945, you dont have much of a choice. I had the same problem. I wanted to use stock rods with my forged pistons, but my pistons have floating .927 pins, so i broke down and bought scat I beams. dont really need them, but it has the pin boss i need and i guess if nothing else, its extra insurance.
