well you should have the car data logged and see what's going on with fuel trims and ect. could be in the tune as well. I run an Aeromotive 340 pump and 48# injectors but I also have a s/c lol.

i guess hell have too. the only thing is like the shop he went to def knows what they are doing bc ive seen some of the cars they do and they are tuned right. and the fact that he had his car tuned twice. once when he went there and the second time the tuner came to his home to tune it

I added information on the specs of his build along with the type of pistons he is using (which are diamond Dished pistons -8.6cc) to my first post.

Using the compression calculator his engine is at about 9.7:1 which is hurting performance. You can get away with 11.5:1 - 12:1 on pump gas with a good tune. You can't always judge who will win by a camshaft alone. Its the whole package. My bolt on car ran faster 1/4 mile (11.97@115) times than some supercharged cars. http://www.race-cars.net/calculators...alculator.html

Compression very well may be the issue of power. will make decent torque.

I'd get some higher compression heads. or tell him to go F.I.

i have a 98 ls1/m6 and i ported the stock 806's and rebuilt the motor with a few extra things i did to make her squeeze out a lil more and she has 318.6 rwhp 309.1 RWTQ so i think it is most def the compression on your frnds engine. the compression in it is lower, so that could easly be why the car seems to be acting fine (cause it is ) just not built for speed. if you get my drift. like it wasnt built right, if he wouldve put a turbo on it now he would be able to make som power out of it but he is n/a. through some 5.3 cnc ported heads on there and go from there

so i was thinking maybe all of these should be done.
Milling heads to raise compression and thinner headgasket
bigger injectors thinking the stock cobras?
possibly a diff stall maybe switching over to a yank ss
