Default What to do about heads.

Im pretty much to the point where i need head work/new heads. I was asking for some input on what to do.

Heres what I have done to the motor at the moment.
233/239 112lsa
LS6 Intake.
LT Pacesetters
85mm tb w/ 85mm maf
SLP lid and K&N
Truck Coils
Fully Balanced rotating assembly
Milled .020 317s

Now im not sure if it would be worth it to have the 317s ported or just buy another set of heads. Im also considering going to the Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT intake manifold. Dont really feel like spending over a grand on a fast.

At the moment im putting down a depressing 411/370 through a m6.

Your 317s can be ported just like 243/799s but will have less compression

Go with some ported ls6 from prc or AI and you can't go wrong...that cam will appreciate the higher compression!

You know AI can do the same thing they do on the 241, to make thier HCR head, to bump compression on those 317's, they can get it to 11:1 with reasonable PTV clearance. They don't advertize it, I'm not sure why, but I had them do it to 317s and they said it was no problem. In fact they suggested it to me over the phone. Basically the way they do it on thier 241 HCR head, is weld material into the chamber to close it up abit, then mill it in the shape of the 243. You basically can have the performance of an 11:1 243 head out of those from AI, they charge a little extra do do it but considering you have the heads it would be far cheaper than buying 243s, then having them worked. Your 317 have same ports/runners as 243s, so they can take the 226cc CNC process for the 243 intake and exhaust runners.

Doesn't sound too bad for you setup, plus the lack of compression isn't helping.

well they have been milled .020 to bump the compression up a little...but i was just seeing if it was worth it to have these heads ported. if anything i can have them milled a little more. ive been running a .040 gasket also. but since my car just killed a lifter. im also going with an eps camshaft to go with it.
