Default 5.3 LM7 Engine with a LS6 Cam

Hey guys,

I have an 84 corvette manual with a 5.3 in it and want to put the LS6 cam in it. Does anyone know the RPM band change and if this is a good idea for my setup?

You could do it, but I don't think it would really be worth the trouble for the gains. In my opinion I'd get a good set of beehive springs and something like a 220/224 .595/.595 116 lsa if you want to keep it sounding stock, but have a good gain in power across the whole rpm range, or if you want to raise your power about 2500-300 rpms higher and don't mind sounding not quite stock maybe step up to a 224/230 on a 112-114lsa. By staying under .600" lift your valve springs will last a long time and by going with on of the cams I suggested you will notice a lot more power.

Were you planning on running headers or manifolds? Headers will give you more gains, but if you want to keep the iron manifolds you should go with a can that has a larger split in the duration to give more time for the exhaust gases to escape out of the more restricive manifolds

What are your goals for the car? Do you need to pass emissions where you live? Do you want it to sound relatively stock or sound cammed?

I wouldnt mind the cammed sound but i want more low end torque and emissions isnt a problem
