Default push rod question........need help please

before anyone says it

yes i did alot of research and i am seriously confused........

heres what i have done

have punched the block and stroked it to 383 c.i.
decked the 2001 5.3 iron block to .002" below stock height
shaved the 799 ported and polished gm heads to match each other at 62 cc .014"
gm blue behive springs, formally yellows
going to run a 2004-2007 z06 cam .575 on intake and exhaust side
using new 1.7 stk gm rockers
going to buy a set of ls7 lifters

i dont have access to a push rod checker unfortunatly but i am hopeing someone here has run into this type of combo before

what is the best pre load to have?
what if the pre load is not enough or to much, how do you tell?
what is the approx length of push rod to get? (to start playing around)

thanks in advance

Does not matter one bit in terms of pushrod length.

Relevant, but without knowing your head gasket compressed thickness sort of stuck...

That's an interesting proposition. The '04 was an LS6 engine, and the '06+ Z06 used an LS7 engine.

Don't have access to a $20 tool?? I suppose mail ordering one is just out of the question. Better to buy a $130 set of pushrods to "start playing around" by your estimate?

"what is the approx length of push rod to get? (to start playing around)"

Would be best to give him a check range, as I was looking for that info and this was the first thread that popped up. So what would be the proper range of a push rod length checker?

You've got way too many mods to guess at a staring pushrod length. As others have eluded to ... got a pushrod lenght checking tool and do it right he first time.

I think we should have a forum just dedicated to pushrod questions ... seems like there's one or two new ones a day.
