Default Polluter cam or raptor cam

Which cam do you guys prefer and why? From what I read I understand 4.10s at least are required along with other bolt ins but to me it seeks like the raptor will make more power down low and mid range without having to rev the motor all to hell like with the polluter. Am I wrong? Suggestions?

Polluter doesnt need to be rev high BTW, its rather the Raptor that needs to be rev'ed higher.

I've seen graphs about the Polluter making power around 6200 while the raptor is more around 6700-7000. A lot of things come into play though if you wanna move the powerband, like the LSA or your manifold setup, etc.

What are you doing with your car? Others mods?future mods?from what I have seen the polluter is pretty good, imo I would hit up eps and have them do your cam, do you plan on doing heads? Is this a auto or m6

Really the polluter doesn't need to rev high? I thought the power band was up higher on the polluter and you had to rev the hell out of the engine. IM is a bbk btw. Car is a m6 z28 90% street do that's also why I was thinking maybe a lil smaller cam than the polluter. Already have a 9 with 4.10s headers with y. Just trying to decide between the cams. I'll also be song fuel injectors when I do the cam. Probably 6-8 months afterwards heads will be put on. I like the polluter and ive researched it but like everyone says not a lot of information on it.

Get a cam spec'd for your application. Get with Pat G(EPS). Off the shelf grinds always leave something on the table (either power or driveability) and are pointless.

Yes, off the shelf grinds suck. Don't ever buy them.

More horrible advice given out on tech.Just because a custom grind is one of the favorite bandwagons on tech doesnt mean off the shelf grinds are not good. There are plenty of custom cams sponsers that kick ***. I would go with the raptr between the two

ya, the band wagon cams **** is getting old. Post some real info its better, and running good times at the track. low 12's and high 11's under 120 for some custom cam is lame. LS6 intake bolt on 224R cams do that. Look thu the classified there lots of custom spec 230/234 cams people selling with low miles. They must all be really happy with them.

LMAO @ Custom cams...

Not trying to start a ****, but all the custom cam stuff is getting annoying... Again, you guys act like these 98-02 fbodies are anything new.

OP, out of your 2 cams, go with the Raptor.

Thats funny, because all these custom cams are close to an off the shelf cam? So why go with a 226/230 cam that only has dyno results when you have a proven futral 228/230? Makes no sense.. If you dont think so, go holler at Detoxx!!

The polluter cam is as big or bigger than the raptor, so if the raptr has to be cranked pretty high, then you can bet the polluter does too. I know the raptr is a 236/242 XFI lobed cam on a 111 LSA with a little advance ground in. These are fairly common specs and have been proven over and over again. As for the polluter cam, there is little info on it, even though its been out for a few years now...seems that may be for a reason. If you are gonna look at dyno numbers, try to find them from non-sponsor dynos and get a nice average of them...not just the highest.

X100000 for the custom bandwagon.. while Custom is good idea, it doesn't mean off the shelf are ****.

The polluter is 244-242, I think. I read a bit on it and it was engineered for torque, even if its pretty big. I think it was design too for not reving too high. There was a T/A for sale dynoing 480rwhp with the polluter..you can search for it.

LOL you guys are saying exactly what Im thinking.....the CUSTOM CAM **** is getting real old....didnt ask on polluter rapTR or custom.....asked what you guys think between the polluter and rapTR!!!....no offense and not trying to start a fight but please try and answer the question I ACTUALLY ASKED!

I see there isn't a lot of info on the polluter but from what I have see the results are pretty intriguing....the rapTR is a little smaller and thats why I thought it wouldn't need to be revved as high....however the polluter I have heard makes good power under the curve for a cam this size. I also saw that the rapTR was also very close to the power numbers that the polluter was putting down so Im a bit torn.....

I was under the impression that the polluter was 242/244. I believe it was designed to make similar peak numbers to other large duration cams (ms3/4, rapTR) while having more lowend. they'll probably both require around 7000rpm to fully utilize.

Oh, and I'd go with the polluter (if it wasn't already obvious).
