Default LQ4 434 stroker?

Add a set of GM Performance Parts ZO6 cyclinder heads (PN 12560801) or have the stock LS1 heads ported and you've got yourself a serious engine.

My question: What is special about the LQ4 block vs an LQ9 or any other iron-block 6.0 for that matter that allows it to be bored .030? I thought they were the same blocks???

Does anyone have links to a 434 stroker build? Nothing turns up when I search "lq4 434."

Thought all iron blocks could be punched out .030-.060 depending on the thickness?

Didnt know a stock block could take a 4.25 stroke.

That article is pretty old. Was it written right as the 6.0's started coming out? Hence, it would not have a reference for much more than the LQ4? It speaks of them as if they are rare but now days they're junk, everyone wants the LQ9's, LS2's, and 6.2L engines. I got a complete LQ4 for $200 and I really don't think there is anything unique about it as compared to say a LQ9.

Lunati lists cranks for them all the way up to 4.5"???

http://www.lunatipower.com/ProductGr...?id=161&cid=11

So does that mean a 460 stroker is possible now? I thought you had to have an LSx tall deck to get 454???

4.125" is the max with an iron block. You could sleeve an aluminum block to fit 4.250", maybe even 4.300", but in either case, there are drawbacks and compromises, mainly with piston design.

You would need a tall deck block to get larger than 4.250".

So that stick is in error then. That's kind of what I suspected. But if a .060 more is possible combined with a 4.125 crank that gets you 427 Cid. Put some L92 heads on it and that would be a sweet torquer!
