Short block threads

Got my short block back from the machine shop, every thread is filled with **** and the bolts won't go in until I run a tap through it at least 3 times to clean all the **** out!

Anyone ever had this problem?

I'm pissed!

The only one I had was a timing cover bolt, had to chase it.

try spraying in a little brake cleaner and sucking out with shop vac (narrow nozzle).

this has worked well for me in the past.
