weird overheating problem
The car runs great. You can drive it for hours without a problem. When he gets the car home and turns it off in the driveway, he can hear it boiling over into the overflow tank. The temp gauge never shows temps overheating. After it warms up, it stays right around 200*.
Fans come on normally, it isn't losing any coolant, and we've made sure to try bleeding out the cooling system a few times to rule out air in the system. He had the radiator flushed at a radiator shop and it was clear. We also swapped out the 160*thermostat stat with a new stock temp stat.
We were thinking a possible head gasket but it was odd this started right after the cam swap. It's a 2001 Z28 with only 45,000 miles.
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm just glad we finally figured it out, even though we suspected that was the problem.
He got a stock set of 799's he's putting on. They're just getting cleaned up a bit and milled to ensure a flat surface.
