I start pulling things apart tonight... I would be thrilled if the problem ended up being something in the heads. Will update the thread as I go... thanks for the update!

Well.. motor is tore down to the block, getting ready to pull it out this weekend now. When I rotate it over there is a 'creaking' noise... I got lucky from what I could tell because it might have let go if I kept driving it. Just ordered a short block from TMS (http://www.thompsonmotorsports.net) so should be back up and running in a couple of weeks.

At the 10 second mark, 18 second mark and 24 second mark you can hear it.

Engine is out... nothing that I can find so far :/

Still have to pull caps and pull the block all the way apart but nothing obvious at this point.

fyi what you described is textbook valve seals or guides............when you back off off the throttle the vacuum in the cylinders goes way up if the valve seals are weak its trying to pull in air by the stem to satisfy the vacuum in the cylinder and as it does it pulls oil in with it.....i think ur nuts for tearing the motor down so fast lol......could've changed valve seals just removing valve covers and rockers in about 4 hours and seals are about $2 each lol

With the miles and how old it is I just decided it was time. . Should fix the problem that started this whole ordeal (cam change, etc) which was a rattle/slap noise.
